Disco Isn’t Dead Yet: Embellished Looks That Will Ensure a Fun Summer

I’m sure it started with the best of
intentions—the summer months and
ensuing balmy climes require exposing as much skin as possible; skin that is, more often than not, possessing a certain dewy glow imparted by travel between air- conditioned destinations. So that was it: no metallics, really, no need for anything glinting, glimmering, or, God forbid, shining. In the summer, one avoids
“shine” at all costs. (And anyways, “shiny” summer clothes brought nothing so much to mind as lamé bikinis, and really, that’s never a good idea.)
But who makes these fashion “rules”
anyway? And who exactly says that
sparkle and shine are just for winter?
Here at Vogue we are begging you to
reconsider the potential: In the right
doses, there is absolutely nothing so
ensemble (and mood!) elevating as some
expertly employed embellishments. Here,
a selection of your best bets this summer
—now go ahead and shine bright.
