A British woman has died after taking part in a bungee jump in Spain, it has been reported.
The 23-year-old from London is believed to have died yesterday afternoon in Lanjaron, Granada, when she collied with part of the bridge’s structure.
The Foreign Office has confirmed it is investigating the reports while a spokesman for the Guardia Civil in Granada told the Mail Online: ‘The dead woman is a British 23-year-old from London.
Local news site the Seaside Gazette reported that the woman’s bungee rope was intact and that she had slammed into the side of the bridge from which she jumped.
‘She was staying with her aunt for a few days and that relative was present when the tragedy occurred.’
He said it was ‘too early to draw any conclusions’ about the circumstances of the death, however witnesses said that she was preparing for her second jump when the accident happened.
A Foreign Office spokesman said: ‘We are urgently looking into reports of the death of a British National in Spain and stand ready to provide consular assistance’.
